Dear Parents,

It has been wonderful to see so many of our VSD families returning and lots of new families joining us.

This letter is rather long but has lots of IMPORTANT information about next term and the future of the school, so please do take some time to read it over. Thank you.

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM MISS MEG……OUR NEW PRINICPAL

Firstly I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the parents who helped at the shows, run through and dress rehearsal and your continued support. As always your children were fantastic and put on a very professional show!

As most of you know I am now the Principal of VSD and this has been something I have dreamed of since I started assisting at 14. I started my 1st Junior Jazz class when I was 16 and then have loved introducing new classes to the school and offering more styles of dance to our students. I have lots of fun and exciting classes starting in September and have started waiting lists for these already so please let me know if your child/children are interested.

NEW CLASSES STARTING IN SEPTEMBER 2022

ACRO: Acro is cross between Gymnastics and Dancing. Within the Acro classes we will focus on varying skills such as: Cartwheels, handstand variations, chest stands, forward and backward walkovers, ariels and more!! The Acro classes will be SATURDAYS at 10:30-11:15 OR 2:30-3:30. For more information or to put you child on the Waiting List please see me on a Saturday.

BODY CONDITIONING AND STRETCH: For a Dancer it’s so important to strengthen our muscles as this not only allows us to work on more challenging techniques but it also helps prevent injuries. Stretching and flexibility is also very important as it gives is a larger range of motion and in this class I will be teaching my students how to stretch safety. I would recommend this class for students taking Acro, Ballet, Pointe and Jazz classes. Classes will be on TUESDAYS at 6:15- 7:00 and THURSDAYS at 5:45-6:30. For more information or to put your child on the waiting list please see me on a Saturday.

ELITE PROGRAMME: My last new addition for September is the ELITE PROGRAMME. For students in the programme there is a set monthly fee and this includes unlimited amount of weekly classes. The programme is for students who have a passion for dancing and wish to push there skills to the next level by training for several hours each week and attend Dance Competitions. Please see me for more information.

REBRANDING VSD

As some of you may know I am going to be rebranding the Dance School from September…….the name is still TOP SECRET so please keep an eye out on our Social Media pages over the Summer as I will be revealing the new name! (Don’t forget we have an Instagram and Facebook page as well as Tik Tok so make sure you follow, like, join to get up to date info- villageschoolofdance_isleworth or Village School of Dance, Isleworth, Middlesex).

There will be new personalised hoodies etc. from September but if your child still has VSD merch that fits they can of course still wear that until they grow out of it.

FEES FROM SEPTEMBER 2022

Class fees haven’t gone up since 2016 and due to hall rent increasing and inflation there will be a slight fee increase.

Fees will be: 30 MINUTE CLASS: £6.05      –      45 MINUTE CLASS: £6.30     –      1 HOUR CLASS: £6.95

If you would like to know the Elite Programme fee please contact or speak to me directly.

PRE-PRIMARY TO PRIMARY

From September our students who will be in Year 2 (our now Year 1’s) will be moving from a combined Ballet and Tap class to individual Ballet and Tap Classes. We are letting you know in advance that fees will be very different as you will now be charged for two 45 minute classes rather than the one 1 hour class. Any problems regarding this please speak to myself or Harriet.

Please expect invoices as they will be given out in the next few weeks.

TIMETABLE

To accommadate new classes being introduced the timetable will be changing from September. You will also be contacted directly if your child’s class has changed. We have many children moving up to the next class, our Reception children will now be in Pre-Primary and our Year 2’s will be joining the Primary classes. Some of our older girls will also be moving to weekday classes which is very exciting.

Please keep an eye out on the website for the new timetable. A link will also be sent out.

TERM DATES AND TIMETABLE WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW BY SATURDAY 25TH JUNE

GROOMING AND UNIFORM

Grooming forms a strong part of the etiquette and uniform for dancers. It allows us teachers to observe the line of the head and neck, which are all important aspects of good training in posture and alignment starting at the age of three. It is tricky to concentrate on movements if your hair is flicking across your face and eyes.

For Ballet and Tap all hair for girls should be in a bun (using a hair-tie, donut and hair pins is all you need, see us if you are not sure) Hair should be pulled back from the face with a pink headband and clips to secure although if hair is in a bun a headband is not necessary. We understand that putting very young dancers’ hair back into ponytails and buns can be challenging!!

No footless tights, tights need to be full footed.

Street Dance and Jazz hair must be worn in a pony tail (high if possible) and off the face- no headband needed.

Street Dance skirts and dresses for girls are not suitable, leggings, cycle shorts, tracksuit bottoms are. VSD Black Hoodies are part of the Street Dance uniform. No headband needed.

Can we please ask that Correct uniform is worn in each class. Combined Ballet & Tap classes need both pairs of appropriate shoes. Please refer to the website or ask one of us.

VSD MOTTO ‘IF YOU LOOK LIKE A DANCER, YOU FEEL LIKE A DANCER’

ONLINE SHOP

From September we are very excited to introduce our new online shop. Once our new exciting name is revealed a link to the shop will be sent out as well as added to the website. The site will have all of our existing uniform to purchase so you will know what is appropriate to buy for your child class. Any problems we are happy to help.

As a dance school we will no longer be ordering uniform in or keeping stock but of course we are here to help you order and assist with sizing. Whilst we are rebranding the school, the uniform will stay the same so no need too reorder if items still fit.

NEWSLETTERS

We aim to upload Newsletters to the website a couple of weeks before the end of term. Please check the website for end of term information, e.g. End of term watching.

If we have to suddenly cancel classes for any reason, ie. weather, natural events, illness etc you will receive direct communication from us or always check the website.

We mainly communicate via WhatsApp as we can send out a Broadcast to you all.

Please save our our mobile number to your contacts (which is on during studio hours): 07308 193193.

ADMIN/OFFICE HOURS

This term we have decided to look at how we use our onsite office/admin hours. In the event that Harriet may not be around on a Saturday we are trialling when is the busiest time for Harriet to be here. From September Harriet will be around from 8:45- 12:45 for the 1st couple of weeks of term to help assist with uniform (please see Online Shop info) and fee queries, as well as new registrations. Show Term and possibly when Exam payments are due Harriet will be around more often than not. Depending on sickness and any other absences you may also see Harriet teaching in the studio at some point during the term.

The plan is to also be a Cashless as possible. We will of course still accept cash but change will not be given until the following week.

PAYMENT INFORMATION

This is a polite reminder to no longer send any online payments to Miss Jacqueline (please remove the 2 accounts from your payments). Although payments can be transferred to me could you please, going forward make any Fees and Uniform payments to my account.
